For the Good of the Colony

For the Good of the Colony is an interactive experimental publication about perception, parallels, and collective behavior. The incredibly small text encourages the reader to engage with the publication by using the magnified glass embedded in the packaging. While the work examines the complex social structures of a very common insect, the word "ant" is intentionally never used. Instead, the text and imagery lead readers to believe the publication is about humankind, drawing attention to the striking similarities between the ways both species organize, cooperate, and navigate their worlds. By withholding the word, the publication challenges viewers to recognize recurring patterns in nature and consider how observing the natural world can reveal deeper insights into ourselves and the societies we create.
